Applications for HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Women Advancement are Open until 1st of September

In line with promoting participation in the 7th edition of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Women Advancement, the Supreme Council for Women held a webinar in cooperation with Bahrain Bourse targeted towards listed companies. The deadline for application submissions for the award is 1st September.

Chief Operating Officer at Bahrain Bourse and Head of Equal Opportunities Committee, Narjes Jamal said: “We are pleased to organize this webinar in cooperation with Supreme Council for Women. We strongly believe in the importance of achieving gender equality and our influential role as a stock exchange to advance gender equality initiatives across listed companies. Hence, we have adopted new ways of operating which includes fostering a conducive working environment to promote higher levels of productivity and a healthy work-life balance.”

During the webinar, a brief presentation was conducted by Ms. Rania Al-Jarf, Director of Gender Balance Center at the Supreme Council for Women that introduced attendees to the Award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for Bahraini Women Advancement, its objectives, requirements, the award categories, as well as the benefits of the award for participants and winners. The webinar concluded by addressing questions from the representatives of listed companies.
  
It is worth noting that Bahrain Bourse has adopted a number of initiatives to promote gender equality including establishment of the Gender Equality Committee spearheaded by Supreme Council for Women since 2019, voluntary commitment towards the UN’s Sustainable Stock Exchanges “SSE” initiative in 2019, issuance of voluntary Environmental, Social, and Governance Guidelines targeted towards listed companies, and its annual participation in the “Ring Bell for Gender Equality” events since 2019. In addition, female employees today account for 42% of Bahrain Bourse workforce and females occupying leadership roles represent 40%.
